We Compared The Features of 128 No-Code Platforms: Here's What We Found

Last updated: May 25, 2026

Integrations are the only completely universal feature in no-code platforms, but the features that make products production-ready are the ones most aggressively monetized. We built a dataset of 128 no-code platforms, classified every feature with a seven-label availability scheme, and ran the aggregates to figure out what actually matters if you are building your own no-code platform.

The dataset spans seven workflow families: internal business app builders, AI agent and chatbot builders, mobile app builders, website and landing page builders, workflow automation builders, backend and database builders, and Web and SaaS app builders. For each platform we captured a broad feature taxonomy covering creation, logic, data, publishing, AI, collaboration, and governance, then classified availability by actual packaging rather than marketing claims.

Summary

This study analyzes the feature landscape of 128 no-code platforms across internal business app builders, AI agent and chatbot builders, mobile app builders, website and landing page builders, workflow automation builders, backend and database builders, and Web and SaaS app builders. The dataset captures 12 feature categories per tool and classifies each implementation by availability status, so the analysis separates feature presence from actual access.

External integrations are the only feature present in 100% of no-code platforms, which means connector libraries have become the baseline expectation for the category rather than a differentiator.

Visual drag-and-drop design is almost universal at 125 of 128 platforms, but only 4 present implementations are free-full, which confirms that the interface layer is commoditized without being truly given away.

Creation-layer features mostly follow a free-limited pattern. Data modeling, backend logic, integrations, workflow automation, and AI tools are most often available on free tiers with caps, which means freemium is used to expose the builder rather than the production system.

Governance is the clearest monetization layer in no-code platforms. Analytics, monitoring, and governance controls are present in 125 tools, but 90 of those implementations are paid-only, which makes operational visibility the strongest enterprise paywall.

Collaboration and deployment controls are nearly universal at 127 of 128 platforms, yet 76 present implementations are paid-only, which suggests that team scale is monetized even when basic building is not.

User authentication sits between core infrastructure and enterprise monetization. It appears in 122 of 128 platforms, but paid-only is the most common access model, which means login and role systems are treated as production features rather than basic builder features.

Mobile packaging is the rarest major capability at 43 of 128 platforms, and 0 present implementations are free-full, which confirms that app-store distribution is a category-native feature only for mobile builders.

Marketplace and community commerce flows appear in only 49 of 128 platforms, and restricted plus paid-only implementations account for 37 of those cases, which makes marketplace logic one of the least commoditized product surfaces.

AI prompt orchestration has moved well beyond AI-only products. It appears in 102 of 128 no-code platforms, which means AI is now a common acquisition hook across internal tools, workflow automation, mobile builders, and website builders.

Website builders are the clearest specialized workflow in the dataset. They are strong on design and publishing, but only 4 of 17 offer backend logic and only 5 of 17 offer workflow automation, which means they should not be benchmarked like full-stack app builders.

Backend and database builders are the most generous category for core technical capabilities. They reach 100% coverage on data, backend logic, integrations, automation, authentication, collaboration, and analytics, with free-limited access dominating many core features.

The full feature comparison table

We built this dataset from scratch. For each of the 128 no-code platforms, we inspected the public feature information and recorded the availability of 12 feature categories: visual drag-and-drop interface design, data modeling and database management, backend logic and API workflows, external integrations and connector libraries, workflow automation and scheduled triggers, user authentication and role permissions, mobile app packaging and publishing, website publishing and SEO tools, marketplace and community commerce flows, AI prompt orchestration and agent tools, collaboration/versioning/deployment controls, and analytics/monitoring/governance controls. Each feature was classified with one of seven standardized availability labels. The full comparison table is below.

Questions on features of no-code platforms

These are the questions that matter if you are deciding which no-code platform features are table stakes, which ones differentiate, which ones to gate, and what to ship first.

Which features are commoditized in no-code platforms?

The commoditized features in no-code platforms are integrations, visual building, collaboration controls, analytics, authentication, backend logic, workflow automation, and data modeling. Integrations reach 100% penetration, while visual design and analytics both appear in 97.7% of the dataset.

The strongest table-stakes signal is external integrations. Every tool in the dataset offers some form of connector library, including products as different as Bubble, Zapier, Airtable, Webflow, FlutterFlow, Retool, and Botpress.

Visual building is nearly as universal, appearing in 125 of 128 no-code platforms. The only meaningful exception pattern is not the absence of visual building, but whether the interface is a native design canvas, a workflow canvas, a form builder, or a more restricted configuration surface.

Collaboration and deployment controls are also effectively commoditized at 127 of 128 platforms. That makes project management, environments, deployment flows, versioning, or team controls a baseline buyer expectation, even when the exact implementation varies sharply by workflow.

Authentication, backend logic, workflow automation, and data modeling all sit above or near 87% penetration. A full-stack no-code platform that omits any of them reads as specialized rather than incomplete, but an internal app builder or Web/SaaS builder that omits them reads as weak.

Workflow matters because commoditization is not evenly distributed. Website builders hit 100% on visual design, integrations, collaboration, and publishing, but they fall to 24% on backend logic, which means the table-stakes set changes once the product is primarily a website workflow.

The build rule is simple: no-code platforms need a broad table-stakes surface, but not every workflow needs the same depth. Missing integrations is fatal; missing mobile publishing is only fatal if the product claims to be a mobile app builder.

Which features are usually free by default in no-code platforms?

The features usually free by default in no-code platforms are the creation-layer features, especially visual design, data modeling, integrations, backend logic, workflow automation, and AI tools. Visual design is free-limited in 79 present implementations, and integrations are free-limited in 72 of 128 tools.

Free access in no-code platforms rarely means free-full. It usually means the feature is available with usage caps, project limits, seat limits, execution limits, publishing limits, or deployment constraints.

Visual drag-and-drop design shows the pattern clearly. It is available in almost every platform, but free-full appears only 4 times, while free-limited appears 79 times among the 125 platforms that offer it.

Data modeling and database management follow the same acquisition logic. They are present in 112 tools, with 63 free-limited implementations, which means vendors want users to start building data structures before they ask them to pay for scale.

Backend logic and integrations are also commonly exposed through capped free tiers. Backend logic is free-limited in 60 of 114 present cases, while integrations are free-limited in 72 of 128 cases.

AI prompt orchestration is not fully free, but it behaves more like a free acquisition feature than a governance feature. Among the 102 platforms that offer AI tools, 52 expose them as free-limited, including many AI agent, workflow automation, website, and internal app products.

The practical lesson for builders is to make the first build feel possible without payment. The free tier should let users create, connect, and test something real, while keeping scale, production, governance, and team operations behind stronger gates.

Which features are most often limited, paywalled, or premium-only in no-code platforms?

The most premium features in no-code platforms are analytics and governance, collaboration and deployment controls, authentication, mobile packaging, and marketplace flows. Analytics is paid-only in 90 present implementations, while collaboration and deployment controls are paid-only in 76.

Analytics, monitoring, and governance controls are the clearest hard paywall. They appear in 125 platforms, but 72.0% of present implementations are paid-only, which makes governance the safest premium layer in the category.

Collaboration and deployment controls are nearly universal but still strongly monetized. A platform can advertise teams, environments, permissions, deployment, or versioning while still reserving the serious implementation for paid plans.

Authentication is the middle layer between builder utility and production readiness. It appears in 122 tools, but paid-only is the most common status, with 59 present implementations sitting behind a paid plan.

Mobile app packaging adds a restricted gate as well as a pricing gate. Of the 43 platforms that offer it, 18 are restricted and 17 are paid-only, which means distribution is often constrained by app stores, native build paths, device targets, or plan tiers.

Marketplace and community commerce flows are gated in a different way. They appear in only 49 tools, and restricted plus paid-only account for 37 cases, which suggests both product complexity and monetization pressure.

Free-limited caps create the first gate, paid-only plans create the second, and restricted access creates the third. The strongest no-code packaging strategies use all three rather than relying only on subscription paywalls.

Knowing what to charge for is half the job. The other half is getting seen: our database of 450+ businesses breaks down how each one brings in customers.

Which features are still strong differentiators in no-code platforms?

The strongest differentiators in no-code platforms are mobile packaging, marketplace and community commerce, AI orchestration depth, and full-stack backend capability outside backend-native workflows. Mobile packaging appears in only 33.6% of platforms, while marketplace flows appear in 38.3%.

Mobile packaging is the most obvious differentiator because it is category-native in only one workflow. All 17 mobile app builders offer it, but website builders and workflow automation builders show 0% coverage.

Marketplace and community commerce flows are powerful because they separate product-building platforms from general internal app or automation tools. Web and SaaS builders reach 91% coverage and mobile builders reach 88%, while internal business app builders reach only 21%.

AI prompt orchestration differentiates by depth rather than mere presence. Since 102 of 128 platforms offer some AI capability, a new no-code platform cannot rely on simply saying it has AI; it needs agent workflows, orchestration, connected actions, or domain-specific automation.

Backend capability differentiates most in workflows where it is not expected. Website builders offer backend logic in only 4 of 17 cases, so a design-first product that adds credible backend workflows can stand apart from pure publishing tools.

Specific tools show the split. Bubble, Bildr, DrapCode, and WeWeb compete around full-stack app creation, while Webflow, Framer, and Dorik remain more publishing-centered even when they add integrations or light data capabilities.

The pattern for builders is that differentiators live at workflow boundaries. The best opportunities are not generic features, but features that are normal in one workflow and still rare in the adjacent one.

Which features are rarely offered in no-code platforms?

The rarest major features in no-code platforms are mobile app packaging and publishing, marketplace and community commerce flows, and website publishing outside website-native workflows. Mobile packaging appears in 43 of 128 platforms, and marketplace flows appear in 49.

Mobile packaging is rare because it depends on a distribution system that most no-code platforms do not want to own. Publishing to app stores, generating native builds, and maintaining mobile release paths are not natural extensions for workflow automation or website tools.

Marketplace flows are rare for a different reason: they require more product assumptions. Payments, listings, buyer-seller roles, community membership, transactions, and moderation do not fit cleanly into a generic internal app builder.

Website publishing looks mid-coverage overall at 88 of 128 platforms, but that number hides a workflow split. It is universal in website and Web/SaaS builders, but almost absent in workflow automation builders, where only 1 of 16 offers it.

The same feature can be rare overall and still table stakes inside a sub-category. Mobile packaging is 33.6% across the full dataset, but it is 100% among mobile app builders, which means category-level rarity does not always mean low buyer importance.

For builders, rare features need workflow validation before they become roadmap priorities. Mobile publishing, marketplace flows, and commerce logic should be added because the target buyer needs them, not because they look like obvious platform expansion.

Which missing features create the biggest opportunity in no-code platforms?

The biggest missing-feature opportunities in no-code platforms sit at workflow intersections: backend logic for website builders, marketplace flows for internal or Web/SaaS builders, and production-grade mobile packaging outside mobile-native tools. Website builders offer backend logic in only 4 of 17 cases, which is the sharpest gap.

Website builders are the clearest opportunity zone because they already own design and publishing. Adding real backend workflows, data modeling, authentication, and automation would let a website builder move closer to full-stack no-code without abandoning its visual strength.

Marketplace and community commerce flows are another underfilled space. Internal business app builders have broad feature coverage, but only 7 of 33 include marketplace flows, even though many internal workflows naturally involve approvals, requests, vendors, members, or service exchanges.

Mobile packaging outside mobile-native tools is harder but potentially valuable. Internal app builders reach 42% coverage, AI agent builders reach 32%, and Web/SaaS builders reach 27%, which suggests selective demand but not category-wide readiness.

Workflow automation builders show the most deliberate omissions. They have 0% coverage for mobile packaging and marketplace flows, which means an automation product that expands into lightweight app distribution would be moving against the category pattern.

AI agent and chatbot builders may be the most interesting intersection. They are already surprisingly full-stack, with 100% coverage on backend logic, integrations, authentication, AI tools, collaboration, and analytics, but only 6 of 22 offer marketplace or community flows.

The opportunity rule is to look for a feature that is normal in one adjacent workflow and conspicuously absent in another. In no-code platforms, those gaps usually reveal product scope inertia rather than a permanent lack of buyer demand.

What should be free versus paid in no-code platforms?

In no-code platforms, the builder loop should be free-limited, while production control should be paid. Visual design, basic data, basic logic, integrations, and AI entry points belong on the free surface; analytics, governance, collaboration depth, authentication depth, and publishing scale can safely sit behind paid plans.

The free surface should let users build something meaningful. That is why visual design, data modeling, backend logic, integrations, workflow automation, and AI prompt tools all lean free-limited when present.

Free-full should be used sparingly. Across the dataset, no feature has more than 4 free-full cases, which means unlimited free access is an outlier rather than a category norm.

Paid features should cluster around production use. Authentication, collaboration, deployment controls, and analytics become more valuable as the app moves from prototype to team-owned system.

Analytics and governance are the safest paid layer because the market already behaves that way. Only 8 platforms offer analytics and governance as free-limited, while 90 make it paid-only.

Mobile packaging and marketplace flows should usually be paid or restricted because they create operational obligations. Both have 0 free-full implementations, which signals strong category consensus against giving those capabilities away.

The packaging rule is to make creation cheap and operation expensive. A no-code platform that charges too early for building feels ungenerous, but one that gives away governance, publishing, and team scale leaves the strongest monetization levers unused.

Which features make users upgrade to paid plans in no-code platforms?

Users upgrade in no-code platforms when they move from building to operating: governance, collaboration, authentication, publishing, and production deployment are the main triggers. Analytics is paid-only in 72.0% of present implementations, making it the strongest upgrade signal.

The first upgrade path usually comes from free-limited caps. Users start with visual building, data, logic, integrations, and AI tools, then hit limits on projects, seats, executions, records, automation volume, or publishing.

The second upgrade path comes from collaboration. Since collaboration and deployment controls are present in 127 platforms and paid-only in 76, team usage is one of the most reliable points to ask for money.

Authentication drives upgrades because it marks a shift from prototype to real app. Role permissions, private users, user groups, and advanced access control are rarely treated as fully free builder features.

Publishing and distribution create workflow-specific upgrade triggers. Mobile builders monetize packaging aggressively, with 13 of 17 mobile builders making mobile packaging paid-only.

Governance is the expansion lever after teams are already using the product. Monitoring, analytics, audit-style controls, usage visibility, and administrative controls become more important once the app is business-critical.

The best upgrade design combines usage pressure with capability pressure. Let users build and validate on the free tier, then charge when they need scale, teammates, secure access, distribution, or operational control.

What should the MVP of a no-code platform include and what should it skip?

The MVP of a no-code platform should include visual building, integrations, basic data, basic logic, authentication basics, collaboration basics, and a workflow-specific publishing or automation anchor. It should skip marketplace flows, advanced governance, and mobile packaging unless those features define the target workflow.

The universal MVP floor starts with integrations. Because 128 of 128 tools offer them, a no-code platform without connectors will feel incomplete no matter how good the builder is.

The next MVP layer is the creation system. Visual building, data modeling, backend logic, and workflow automation all have high penetration, which means the product needs enough of each to let users create a real working artifact.

Authentication and collaboration should be present, but not overbuilt. Their broad adoption makes them expected, while their paid-only concentration shows that advanced roles, teams, governance, and deployment controls can wait until later tiers or later releases.

The workflow anchor decides what cannot be skipped. A mobile app builder needs mobile packaging, a website builder needs publishing and SEO, a workflow automation builder needs scheduled triggers, and an AI agent builder needs prompt orchestration and connected actions.

Marketplace flows should usually be skipped in the MVP. They appear in only 49 of 128 platforms and are heavily paid or restricted when present, which means they are not a generic no-code requirement.

Advanced analytics and governance should also stay out of the earliest build unless the product targets enterprise buyers from day one. The category already treats those controls as monetization and scale features, not acquisition features.

The MVP rule is five foundations plus one workflow anchor: build surface, data, logic, integrations, access basics, and the feature that makes the chosen workflow credible.

What are other interesting feature patterns in no-code platforms?

Beyond the headline findings, no-code platforms show several quieter patterns around ambiguity, workflow specialization, and the split between acquisition features and production features.

AI has the highest ambiguity rate among the major feature families. AI prompt orchestration is present in 102 tools, but 22 of those implementations are unclear, which suggests vendors are still inconsistent in explaining AI limits, credits, models, and access conditions.

Analytics has a different opacity problem. It is present in 125 tools and strongly paid, but 20 implementations are unclear, which means many vendors mention monitoring or reporting without clearly stating what is included at each plan level.

Backend and database builders are unusually generous compared with their infrastructure depth. Tools like Backendless, Xano, Baserow, NocoDB, SeaTable, Rowy, and Grist expose many core capabilities as free-limited, while still monetizing governance and advanced control.

Mobile app builders are the most distribution-gated workflow. They offer mobile packaging universally, but the same feature is paid-only in most mobile-native products, including FlutterFlow, GoodBarber, BuildFire, nandbox, AppMachine, Passion.io, and Disciple.

Workflow automation builders monetize around control, not connector access. Connectors and workflow creation often appear as free-limited, while user permissions, collaboration, and analytics lean paid-only.

Internal business app builders show the strongest enterprise upsell posture. Their feature coverage is broad, but backend logic, authentication, collaboration, and analytics frequently become paid-only once the product moves from prototype to managed business system.

Insights

We collected and analyzed the features of 128 no-code platforms, then read the aggregates as a whole rather than as isolated feature counts. These are the higher-order patterns that emerge from the feature and packaging landscape.

  • In no-code platforms, feature depth matters less at the acquisition layer and more at the operations layer. The market has trained buyers to expect a usable builder for free, but not a production-grade operating system for free.
  • No-code platforms cluster into workflow archetypes more strongly than they cluster by business model. Website builders, mobile builders, workflow automation tools, backend builders, and internal app builders each have a distinct definition of what counts as table stakes.
  • The most reliable monetization pattern across no-code platforms is not a single feature gate, but a lifecycle gate. Vendors let users create, then charge when the artifact needs users, teams, publishing, governance, or scale.
  • Free-limited is the category's dominant compromise in no-code platforms. It preserves the promise of no-code access while still protecting usage volume, production deployment, seat expansion, and operational control.
  • The phrase "full-stack" is unevenly meaningful across no-code platforms. AI agent builders and backend builders often look more full-stack than website builders, even when website builders have stronger visual design and publishing surfaces.
  • Marketplace and mobile capabilities are the clearest signs that a no-code platform is leaving generic app-building and entering a vertical product workflow. Both features bring distribution, operations, and monetization complexity that generic builders tend to avoid.
  • AI in no-code platforms is already common enough that presence alone has low differentiating power. The real question is whether AI is a prompt box, an orchestration layer, a connected agent system, or a production automation primitive.
  • Restricted access is a quiet but important packaging mechanic in no-code platforms. It appears most clearly around mobile publishing, website publishing, marketplace flows, and backend-related distribution paths, where access depends on stack, host, platform, or implementation model.
  • The highest-coverage features in no-code platforms are not always the most generous. Collaboration and analytics are almost universal, but both are heavily paid, which means penetration and generosity must be evaluated separately.
  • No-code platforms reward builders who choose a workflow boundary early. Trying to ship every rare feature at once creates a broad platform surface, but the dataset shows that buyers benchmark products against workflow-native expectations first.

Methodology

We analyzed 128 no-code platforms based on publicly available information from their homepages, feature pages, documentation pages, pricing pages, and plan comparison pages.

We define no-code platforms as products whose primary value proposition is to help users build apps, websites, workflows, databases, automations, internal tools, or business systems without writing code, using visual builders, templates, logic blocks, and integrations.

We included platforms when a buyer would reasonably evaluate them as part of a no-code creation stack. This includes visual app builders, mobile app builders, internal tool builders, backend and database builders, workflow automation platforms, website and landing page builders, and AI-agent or chatbot builders when they expose app-building, workflow, integration, deployment, or operational capabilities for non-technical users.

We excluded tools that were too generic, too narrow, too code-dependent, or not sufficiently comparable for pricing analysis. This includes products whose primary value is only project management, analytics, CRM, social media publishing, content writing, design asset creation, code hosting, infrastructure hosting, customer support, or generic AI chat unless no-code creation, workflow creation, automation, publishing, or application deployment was presented as a central advertised use case.

For ambiguous platforms, we included them only when non-technical users could create meaningful software or workflows without code rather than simply configure templates or integrations.

The final dataset focuses on tools that are sufficiently comparable for feature and pricing analysis. A small number of niche, regional, newly launched, deprecated, or highly specialized tools may have been missed, but the dataset is designed to represent the most visible, relevant, and commercially meaningful products in the no-code platform category rather than every marginal edge case.

The no-code platform market contains many overlapping feature names, and vendors often describe similar capabilities with different terminology. To make the analysis readable and comparable, we grouped individual capabilities into 12 broader feature categories: visual interface design, data modeling and database management, backend logic and API workflows, external integrations, workflow automation and scheduled triggers, authentication and permissions, mobile app packaging and publishing, website publishing and SEO tools, marketplace and community commerce flows, AI prompt orchestration and agent tools, collaboration/versioning/deployment controls, and analytics/monitoring/governance controls.

This categorization avoids two common problems: treating every vendor-specific wording as a separate feature, which would make the analysis too fragmented, and using overly broad buckets, which would obscure meaningful product differences between app builders, automation platforms, backend tools, website builders, and AI-agent products.

For each feature, we applied a standardized availability label based on the information published by each vendor. Absent means the feature is not available, or does not appear to be available, based on public information. Free full means the feature is available for free without meaningful usage limits. Free limited means the feature is available for free, but with usage, volume, functionality, seat, project, execution, publishing, or access limits.

Paid only means the feature is available only through a paid plan. Trial only means the feature is available only during a free trial or temporary evaluation period. Restricted means the feature depends on a specific integration, export path, hosting model, region, device, partner, marketplace, beta program, implementation setup, or other restricted access condition. Unclear means the feature appears to be present, but public information does not clearly indicate whether it is free, paid, trial-based, limited, or restricted.

When public information was incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent across vendor pages, we avoided inferring availability beyond what could reasonably be supported by the vendor's own materials. In those cases, we used the Unclear label rather than assuming that a feature was free, paid, fully available, or unavailable.

For the quantitative analysis, we counted a feature as present when it was labeled free full, free limited, paid only, trial only, restricted, or unclear. We counted a feature as not present only when it was labeled absent. Percentages for feature coverage are calculated against the full dataset or against the relevant app category. Percentages for access-model breakdowns are calculated only among tools that appear to offer the feature.
