Which Etsy digital products are selling best now?

Last updated: 17 September 2026

SUMMARY

The Etsy digital products selling best now are digital planners, crochet and sewing patterns, wedding and event templates, PNG and SVG assets, printable art, and increasingly functional products such as budget spreadsheets.

The strongest new-seller opportunities are not necessarily the categories with the biggest search volume. Products that calculate, teach, organize, customize or plug into a workflow are holding up better than generic decorative downloads.

Demand for digital products is showing up across several major Etsy markets even while Etsy's overall marketplace was soft in 2025. That makes the digital trend more interesting than a simple reflection of platform-wide growth.

Crochet and sewing patterns stand out because they combine unusually high search demand with a real skill barrier. A good-looking listing cannot rescue a pattern that simply does not work.

Budget spreadsheets are moving in the opposite direction from cheap printables: they increasingly behave like tiny pieces of software. Formulas, dashboards, forecasts and niche workflows give sellers room to charge more and improve the product over time.

Digital planners still have deep demand, but the generic version is crowded. The stronger angle is a planner built for a specific life, job or problem rather than another all-purpose calendar and habit tracker.

Wedding products remain attractive because one buyer can need a whole system rather than one file. Invitations, seating charts, menus, signs and other coordinated assets create natural bundles and higher order values.

Wall art, PNGs and SVGs can still produce huge sales, but they are the clearest examples of demand colliding with near-frictionless supply. AI has made visually acceptable files easier to produce, so usefulness, technical reliability and recognizable style matter more than before.

Streamer and VTuber assets are smaller markets, but the technical requirements make them harder to commoditize. The same buyer may also need overlays, alerts, badges, emotes, expressions or rig-ready files, which expands the value of the relationship.

The dividing line is getting sharper: easy-to-copy aesthetics are crowded, while knowledge, functionality, personalization and technical execution still give buyers a reason to pay. That is where the Etsy digital-product market looks strongest today.

Can we actually tell which Etsy digital products sell best?

We can identify the Etsy digital products selling best right now, but there is no official Etsy leaderboard that gives us exact sales by digital niche.

Etsy publishes plenty of marketplace data, just not at that level. The marketplace had 86.5 million active buyers, 5.6 million active sellers and more than 100 million items at the end of 2025. Etsy also tells us that home and living, craft supplies, and paper and party supplies are among its six biggest categories. What it does not disclose is how much of those sales come from downloadable planners, invitations, patterns, spreadsheets or artwork.

So we have to reconstruct the picture from several sources. The most useful combination is Etsy search data from eRank, current shop sales and reviews, listing prices, purchase-intent data and Etsy's own marketplace disclosures.

The latest search rankings already tell us something important. In the U.S., “digital products” currently ranks No. 6 among all Etsy searches and “crochet pattern” No. 10. In Canada, “budget spreadsheet” is No. 14. Australia's current top searches include “VTuber model” at No. 6 and “digital products” at No. 10. In the U.K., “crochet pattern” and “digital products” are both in the top 20.

That gives us much more than a single viral keyword. Buyers are actively searching for downloadable products across very different use cases.

The difficult part is separating products that sell from products that still make sense for a new seller. Wall art can attract enormous demand while being brutally crowded. A specialized spreadsheet can have fewer searches but command a higher price and face less interchangeable competition.

Those are two different questions, and we need both to understand what is actually working on Etsy today.

What we can measure What it tells us Main limitation
Etsy search rank Current buyer interest Searches are not sales
Click-through rate Strength of shopping intent Does not reveal conversion
Shop sales Proven transaction volume Usually covers the whole shop
Listing reviews Long-term product traction Only some buyers review
Prices Revenue potential per order Discounts can distort them
Etsy marketplace data Overall market scale No digital-product breakdown

Is Etsy digital demand still strong right now?

Digital products are unusually prominent on Etsy right now, even though Etsy itself has only recently returned to modest marketplace growth.

That contrast is useful. Etsy marketplace GMS fell during 2025 to about $10.46 billion, active buyers declined 3.4% to 86.5 million and spending per active buyer slipped 0.5%. The marketplace was hardly enjoying a broad demand boom.

Yet digital searches kept breaking into the top rankings.

In the U.S., “digital products” was No. 15 in July and has now climbed to No. 6. In Australia, it currently sits at No. 10. The U.K. has it at No. 20. Earlier this year, Canada had “digital planner” at No. 2 and “digital download” at No. 16.

The types of queries are even more revealing. Shoppers are searching directly for “digital planner,” “budget spreadsheet,” “crochet pattern,” “digital wedding invitations,” “Twitch overlays” and “VTuber model.” They already know they want a file.

That does not mean every downloadable product is booming. Demand is concentrating around a handful of jobs: organizing something, making something, planning an event, managing money, applying for work or creating content.

That becomes more obvious once we look at the individual categories.

Are digital planners still selling well on Etsy?

Digital planners are still one of Etsy's strongest digital categories, although generic planners are much harder to differentiate today.

Canada gives us particularly good evidence. “Digital planner” reached No. 2 among all Etsy searches in March and remained No. 15 in April. Over the preceding 12 months, eRank measured an average click-through rate of 132%. Searches had stayed above roughly 1,700 every month across the previous 15 months.

That is unusually persistent demand.

Successful shops confirm that people actually buy the files. DigitalPlannerStart has passed 43,000 Etsy sales, while PrintMagicStudioX has accumulated roughly 47,000. Large all-in-one planners from established sellers can still sell in the $15-$25 range rather than competing exclusively at $2 or $3.

The generic end of the market is the hard part. Buyers can already get calendars, habit trackers and basic planning pages from dozens of apps, Canva templates and free downloads.

A planner becomes much more interesting when it is built around somebody's actual life. ADHD planners, nursing planners, teacher planners, student systems, wedding planners, fitness planners and business planners give the buyer a reason to choose one file over hundreds of similar ones.

There is still plenty of demand. The opportunity has simply moved toward narrower planners that understand a specific user.

Are budget spreadsheets becoming one of Etsy's best digital products?

Budget spreadsheets are one of the clearest digital-product opportunities on Etsy right now because current demand is meeting a product that can genuinely save people work.

The freshest evidence is unusually strong: “budget spreadsheet” currently ranks No. 14 among all Etsy searches in Canada. A more specific search, “budget spreadsheet excel,” also showed up among Canada's high-purchase-intent terms recently.

These products can do far more than display information. A well-built sheet can calculate cash flow, separate sinking funds, track debt, forecast savings and show progress automatically.

The same idea works outside personal finance. Etsy sellers offer spreadsheet systems for small-business pricing, inventory, bookkeeping, wedding budgets, rental properties, content planning and project management.

That extra functionality changes what buyers are paying for. A printable budget page might save someone from drawing a table. A spreadsheet with formulas can replace hours of setup and calculation.

It also gives sellers more ways to improve the product. They can add dashboards, automation, instructions, new scenarios, mobile-friendly layouts or specialized versions for different customers.

In practical terms, these products increasingly behave like tiny pieces of software built inside Excel or Google Sheets.

That makes niche spreadsheets one of the digital Etsy categories we would watch most closely now.

Are crochet and sewing patterns bigger than people realize?

Crochet and sewing patterns are already among Etsy's strongest digital products, and the latest search data makes that hard to dismiss.

“Crochet pattern” currently ranks No. 10 among all U.S. Etsy searches and No. 19 in the U.K. Earlier this year, “crochet patterns” reached No. 14 in Canada, while “sewing patterns” reached No. 17.

Those are extraordinary positions for downloadable instruction files competing against jewelry, clothing, home decor and gifts across the whole marketplace.

Shop performance backs up the search data. CrochetByBT has reached roughly 39,000 sales in around a year and a half. PatternCraftCrochet has passed 14,000, while CrochetToPlay has exceeded 18,000.

There is a good reason patterns hold up better than many decorative downloads. The PDF is only the delivery format. The buyer is really purchasing the seller's ability to create instructions that produce the promised garment, toy, flower or accessory.

A beautiful thumbnail cannot compensate for the wrong stitch count.

That technical element creates some protection from the explosion of low-effort digital content. Sellers can also build large catalogs around the same expertise, moving between animals, clothing, flowers, baby products and seasonal projects.

Right now, crochet and sewing patterns combine something unusually valuable on Etsy: large visible demand and a product that still requires real skill.

Current evidence What we see
“Crochet pattern” — U.S. No. 10
“Crochet pattern” — U.K. No. 19
“Crochet patterns” — Canada earlier this year No. 14
CrochetByBT shop sales ~39,000
CrochetToPlay shop sales ~18,000
PatternCraftCrochet shop sales ~14,000

Are PNG and SVG files still selling now that anyone can generate images?

PNG and SVG files are still selling heavily on Etsy, but making the image has become the easy part.

Earlier this year, “PNG” reached nearly 42,000 U.S. Etsy searches in a single month and ranked No. 13 across the entire second quarter. SVG searches have also repeatedly produced very high click-through rates.

Large shops show how much transaction volume exists. SVGix has accumulated more than 70,000 Etsy sales, while SVGCreationStudio has passed 10,000.

Their catalogs also reveal how this market actually works. Buyers usually need graphics for something: Cricut projects, sublimation, shirts, tumblers, school products, weddings, sports, Halloween or Christmas.

That gives sellers a better angle than simply uploading thousands of unrelated images.

AI has obviously changed the supply side. Generating a visually acceptable graphic now takes very little time, which means attractive artwork alone carries less value. Etsy currently permits seller-prompted AI creations as long as sellers follow its disclosure rules, so AI-generated files are openly competing in the marketplace.

The better PNG and SVG businesses increasingly win through usefulness: clean cut files, technically reliable exports, strong bundles, coherent collections and designs built for a particular type of maker.

There is still a lot of money moving through this category. It has simply become a much tougher place to sell interchangeable graphics.

Is printable wall art still worth selling on Etsy?

Printable wall art still attracts enormous Etsy demand today, but it is one of the hardest major digital categories for a new seller to enter.

“Wall art” currently sits at No. 3 among all U.S. Etsy searches. It is No. 7 in the U.K. and No. 4 in Canada. Few digital-adjacent categories can match that kind of international search volume.

The catch is that those searches include physical prints, paintings and other decor as well as downloads. The digital slice also faces exceptionally low barriers to entry.

A seller can now generate artwork, resize it into standard ratios, place it inside mockups and create multiple listings very quickly. Thousands of other sellers can do exactly the same thing.

That does not make printable art dead. It changes what deserves attention.

Original illustration, personalized family art, nursery collections, city-specific prints, educational art, custom pet work and recognizable visual styles give buyers something more specific to choose.

Generic abstract prints have a much harder problem. When dozens of listings look interchangeable in the search results, price and visibility end up doing too much of the work.

So yes, printable wall art still sells in huge quantities. We would be far more cautious about entering the generic part of that market today.

Are Etsy wedding templates still making serious money?

Wedding templates remain one of Etsy's most established digital businesses because buyers routinely need an entire collection of designs for one event.

The opportunity stretches well beyond the invitation. Couples can buy save-the-dates, menus, seating charts, table numbers, welcome signs, itineraries, wedding newspapers, vow books, QR-code cards and other editable files from the same seller.

That creates natural bundles and much higher potential order values.

The wider Etsy marketplace is also built for this kind of shopping. Paper and party supplies sits among Etsy's six largest categories, and Etsy's own buyer research found that 31% of shoppers came to the marketplace looking for something custom or personalized.

Established template sellers have reached very large scale. ViolaMirabilisDesign, for example, has accumulated hundreds of thousands of Etsy sales around editable event designs.

We are also seeing wedding products become more personal. Couples increasingly want their stationery to reflect a venue, story, illustration style or specific visual theme instead of choosing another generic floral template.

That suits Etsy particularly well.

A strong wedding seller can therefore sell the same customer a complete event system rather than hoping to make $5 from a single invitation.

Why are digital birthday invitations suddenly so popular?

Digital birthday invitations are selling extremely well on Etsy these days, but some of the most visible searches are attached to intellectual property that independent sellers do not own.

The scale is striking. Recent Etsy rankings across the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia have repeatedly included searches for birthday invitations based on Pokémon, Sonic, Spider-Man and other entertainment properties.

At one point, several character invitation searches occupied the top positions in the same national ranking.

The underlying customer behavior is extremely valuable: parents clearly like inexpensive invitations that they can edit quickly, send digitally and print when needed.

Copying the characters is where the business becomes dangerous.

Etsy can remove listings when it receives valid intellectual-property complaints, and sellers remain responsible for making sure the designs they sell comply with third-party rights. eRank also explicitly warns sellers about trademarked terms when these searches appear in its rankings.

There are plenty of ways to serve the same buyer without building a shop around somebody else's franchise. Original racing parties, dinosaur designs, construction themes, fairy parties, space themes, gaming-inspired events and photo invitations all address the same need.

The current search data tells us that editable party invitations have strong demand. It does not give sellers permission to use whichever character is producing the most searches this week.

Do resume templates still sell when Canva and AI can make them for free?

Resume templates still sell on Etsy, especially when they help someone get through the actual job-application process rather than merely improving the typography.

Recent U.K. search data has shown unusually attractive demand and competition metrics for “resume template.” Existing Etsy sellers have also built shops with thousands of transactions around résumé and job-search products.

Free alternatives are everywhere, of course. Word, Google Docs and Canva can all produce a professional-looking résumé in minutes.

That raises the standard for what deserves a paid listing.

An ATS-friendly system can include a résumé, matching cover letter, references page, LinkedIn material, instructions and examples. Sellers can go further by building packages for nurses, graduates, teachers, engineers, executives or people changing careers.

Those buyers have much more specific problems than “I need a nice document.”

The resume-template market therefore still works, but design alone is becoming a weaker reason to pay. Useful structure and job-specific guidance carry more weight now.

Are workbooks becoming a real Etsy digital-product category?

Specialized workbooks are becoming much more interesting on Etsy because shoppers often search for the exact problem they want help working through.

We saw an unusually strong example recently when “burnout recovery workbook” jumped to No. 6 among all U.S. Etsy searches after sitting much lower previously. Its click-through rate reached 150%.

One spike does not suddenly make burnout workbooks a bigger category than planners or patterns. It does show how quickly a precise problem can pull demand toward a digital product.

The same principle can apply to study workbooks, grief journals, career-reflection exercises, relationship prompts, goal-setting systems and executive-function tools.

These products also have more room for original thinking than a blank printable. The value can come from the sequence of exercises, the questions, the framework and the way someone moves through the material.

We would still be careful around health claims. A self-reflection workbook and a product claiming to diagnose or treat a medical condition are very different things.

For sellers who can build genuinely useful material, however, specific workbooks deserve more attention than another generic 50-page planner.

Are Twitch overlays and VTuber assets one of Etsy's better hidden niches?

Twitch overlays and VTuber assets are among the more interesting specialist digital products on Etsy right now because current demand is strong enough to matter while technical skill still helps keep competition in check.

The freshest Australian Etsy rankings put “VTuber model” at No. 6 across the entire marketplace.

That is remarkable for such a specific digital product.

The U.K. gives us another useful example. eRank recently classified “Twitch overlays” as one of its rare high-opportunity keywords: the term had produced at least 1,000 monthly searches in five or more of the previous 15 months, an average click-through rate above 100% and relatively low competition.

These products can also expand into larger customer relationships. A streamer may need overlays, alerts, screens, emotes, badges and panels. A VTuber buyer may need a character model, expressions, clothing variations or rig-ready assets.

Those projects require more capability than producing another printable quote.

The total audience is smaller than the market for wall art, but that can be a good trade when individual buyers spend more and fewer sellers can deliver what they need.

For someone with the right design or animation skills, this is currently one of Etsy's more convincing specialist digital niches.

Is AI killing the easy Etsy digital products?

AI is making the easiest Etsy digital products dramatically easier to copy, and that is changing which categories look attractive.

Etsy allows seller-prompted AI artwork as long as sellers disclose the AI use and follow its Creativity Standards. Etsy has also been adding more AI tools for sellers itself, particularly around discovery and shop management.

The immediate effect is an explosion in supply wherever producing the file was already the main challenge.

Printable wall art, simple coloring pages, clip art, basic social templates and decorative graphics are obvious examples. A seller no longer needs years of design experience to create hundreds of plausible variations.

Products with working parts hold up better.

A financial spreadsheet needs correct formulas. A crochet pattern has to produce the promised object. A hyperlinked planner needs navigation that works. A résumé package needs sensible content architecture. A Twitch overlay has technical requirements. A wedding suite needs consistent sizes and formats across several files.

That gap is becoming more important than whether a product is called a printable, template or download.

The strongest products these days usually contain knowledge, functionality, customization or technical execution that remains useful after the buyer has finished looking at the thumbnail.

Does personalization still make Etsy digital products easier to sell?

Personalization is one of the clearest ways to escape commodity pricing on Etsy digital products because Etsy buyers already come to the marketplace expecting custom work.

Etsy's latest full-year buyer survey found that 31% of shoppers had visited looking for something custom or personalized. Custom and made-to-order merchandise represented roughly 30% of marketplace GMS.

That behavior carries naturally into digital products.

A personalized pet portrait has a built-in reason to differ from every other listing. So does a venue illustration, family print, custom wedding newspaper, editable business form or invitation built around somebody's photograph.

Digital sellers can also choose how much service they want to provide. Some products can remain instant downloads with editable fields. Others can offer customization as a paid upgrade.

This has become more valuable as generic content gets cheaper to create.

When anyone can produce 50 attractive templates in an afternoon, knowing something specific about the buyer gives the product a much clearer reason to exist.

Can sellers still make money with $2 Etsy downloads?

Cheap digital downloads can still sell at huge volume, but building an Etsy business around $2 products is harder than the zero-inventory story makes it sound.

Etsy currently charges $0.20 when a listing is created or renewed, plus a 6.5% transaction fee. Payment-processing fees come on top and depend on the seller's country. Orders attributed to Offsite Ads can carry another advertising fee.

That $0.20 barely matters on a $25 product. On a $2 product, it already represents 10% of the selling price.

Large SVG and pattern shops can survive at low prices because they have hundreds of listings, bundles and enormous sales volume. New sellers do not begin with that advantage.

Bundles improve the economics quickly. A seller can combine templates, patterns or planning pages into a $15-$30 package without adding physical fulfillment costs.

That is one reason functional digital products look attractive. Buyers will pay more when the file saves enough time or solves an expensive enough problem.

A new shop built entirely around $1-$3 commodity downloads needs extraordinary volume. These days, a smaller number of useful $15-$30 products can be a much healthier starting point.

Selling price $0.20 listing fee as share of price 6.5% transaction fee Amount left before processing and ads
$2 10.0% $0.13 $1.67
$5 4.0% $0.33 $4.47
$15 1.3% $0.98 $13.83
$25 0.8% $1.63 $23.18

Which Etsy digital products have the best combination of demand and competition?

The best Etsy digital opportunities currently sit where strong demand meets some genuine difficulty in making a good product.

Crochet and sewing patterns stand out because buyers are searching for them in huge numbers and the instructions still require skill. Niche spreadsheets solve obvious problems and can justify higher prices. Specialized planners retain substantial demand while giving sellers room to understand a narrow customer better than competitors.

Wedding systems are attractive for another reason: one customer can need ten related files. Streamer and VTuber products serve a smaller audience but benefit from technical requirements that keep the category from becoming completely interchangeable.

PNG and SVG files remain high-volume businesses, although competition is intense. Resume systems and specialized workbooks can work well when sellers bring useful knowledge to them.

Wall art sits at the opposite extreme. Search volume is enormous, but producing another aesthetically acceptable print has become extremely easy.

We would treat generic Canva templates similarly. There will always be sales, but the seller needs either a very specific customer, a strong distribution advantage or a differentiated product to avoid competing on price.

Digital product Demand now How easy it is to copy Current opportunity
Crochet and sewing patterns Very high Harder Excellent
Niche spreadsheets Strong and rising Harder Excellent

Twitch and VTuber assets Strong specialist demand Harder Very good

Which Etsy digital products are actually selling best now?

The Etsy digital products selling best right now are digital planners, crochet and sewing patterns, editable event templates, PNG and SVG files, printable art and a growing group of functional products such as budget spreadsheets.

The freshest marketplace data makes the broad picture fairly clear. “Digital products” currently ranks No. 6 among all U.S. Etsy searches. “Crochet pattern” is No. 10. Canada's top 20 now includes “budget spreadsheet.” Australia's includes both “digital products” and “VTuber model.” The U.K. currently has “crochet pattern” and “digital products” in its top 20.

We would separate those high-demand categories into two groups.

The first contains enormous but heavily commoditized markets: wall art, generic graphics, broad Canva templates and simple printables. There is plenty of buyer traffic, but there is even more supply.

The second contains products where the file actually does something or contains knowledge: spreadsheets, specialized planners, craft patterns, complete wedding systems, job-search packages and technical creator assets.

That second group looks stronger for someone entering Etsy today.

A spreadsheet can calculate. A crochet pattern can teach. A planner can organize a specific workflow. A wedding package can coordinate an event. A streamer asset can plug directly into somebody's content business.

Those products still keep the best part of digital selling: there is no inventory to manufacture again for every order.

At the same time, they give the buyer a reason to pay that goes beyond liking the picture on the listing.

That is where the Etsy digital-product market looks strongest now.

OUR METHODOLOGY

This analysis asks which Etsy digital products are selling best now without pretending Etsy publishes a definitive digital-niche leaderboard. It does not. We therefore reconstruct the market from current buyer demand, the persistence of that demand, evidence of real transaction volume, pricing, competitive intensity, product differentiation and seller economics.

For current demand, we prioritize recent Etsy search data from eRank across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia rather than relying on one country. We also use recent historical search pages where needed to separate recurring demand from one-month spikes and to look at click-through rates, competition and purchase-intent signals.

We then check those demand signals against what is happening on Etsy itself. Specialist-shop sales, reviews, catalogs and pricing are useful evidence that a category supports real transactions, but we do not treat a shop's total sales as exact sales for one individual listing or product type.

We also separate what sells in large quantities from what looks attractive for a new seller. A category can have enormous buyer demand and still be difficult when supply is interchangeable. A smaller niche can be more interesting when buyers show clear intent, prices are healthier and producing a credible alternative requires knowledge, functionality, customization or technical execution.

Etsy's own marketplace data provides the wider context. We use Etsy's 2025 Form 10-K for marketplace GMS, active buyers, active sellers, listing count, category mix, personalization data and buyer-survey figures, and Etsy's Q4 and full-year 2025 results for the latest full-year marketplace performance.

The current search evidence comes primarily from eRank's latest country reports: U.S. Etsy keywords, Canada Etsy keywords, U.K. Etsy keywords, and Australia Etsy keywords. Historical checks include Canada in March 2026, the U.K. in February 2026, U.S. Q2 2026 search trends, and U.S. keywords in July 2026.

For platform rules and seller economics, we use Etsy's primary documentation: Creativity Standards for digital downloads and seller-prompted AI work, Intellectual Property Policy for infringement and takedown rules, Fees & Payments Policy for listing and transaction fees, and Offsite Ads documentation for attribution and advertising fees.

Direct marketplace checks include DigitalPlannerStart for digital planners, CrochetByBT for crochet patterns, SVGix for PNG and SVG assets, and ViolaMirabilisDesign for wedding and event templates. These examples are used as category evidence, not as audited niche market shares.

No single metric determines the conclusion. Repeated signals carry more weight than isolated spikes, recent evidence carries more weight than older evidence, and direct marketplace or first-hand sources are prioritized wherever they are available. The final judgments are our synthesis of those signals rather than labels supplied by Etsy or any third-party tool.
